One thing I think we’re not doing enough of: skills learning.

You’ll notice in Woody Zuill’s “A Day of Mob Programming” that the first hour of the mob day is spent in a “Skills Learning Session”. Yes, you have an hour a day to hone your craft.

Plus, deliberate practice pays off in big ways. Just check out Peak: Secrets from the New Science of Expertise. I’ve heard a couple of interviews with the author and it’s quite compelling.
